Glenn Thompson / Volcano-Seismologist

I am a Geophysicist who specializes in seismic and volcano monitoring. I design and develop software systems to enhance and streamline seismic monitoring operations and to catalyze research that uses seismic data. I use geophysical data (primarily seismic and infrasound data) to study volcanic activity (including swarms, tremor, pyroclastic flows, and mudflows), earthquake sources, explosions (volcanic, chemical, nuclear), and rocket launches.

Three distinct regimes of volcanic tremor associated with the eruption of Shishaldin Volcano, Alaska 1999

Published in Bull. Volcanol., 2002

This paper is about the changes in the strength and frequency content of volcanic before, during, and after the April 1999 eruption of Shishalin Volcano. We suggest was caused by different types of flow in the magmatic conduit.
